Celebrating the 75th anniversary of Peterlee town

2023 marks the 75^th anniversary of the creation of the town of Peterlee by the Peterlee Development Corporation in 1948. Named after a prominent local miner, Peterlee is one of the most successful post-war new town creations with its mix of housing styles, including the unique “cantilever” houses, a few of which remain today.

Whilst a number of firms have closed their town centre offices and moved out of town or to other areas, we are proud to continue to serve the people of Peterlee from our busy office on Yoden Way. This office was originally “Jamiesons” until a merger of the two firms in 2000 created Turner, Morgan and Jamieson and later TMJ Legal Services.

To celebrate the 75^th anniversary, Durham County Council has launched a photo exhibit at Castle Dene Shopping Centre celebrating the last 75 years of the town and its people.
